OMG your song has me dancing and jogging as I “walk” FANTASTIC theme song going forward. Can you share just the song link?

Nah. I'm gonna hate the haters, show zero tolerance toward the intolerant, and completely exclude the non-inclusionary. Those who don't recognize basic human rights get nothing. They need to get the hell out of my country and go back to Europe.

Liam,

I loooove your fire!!!

Love your writing. Your words express fabulously just how we are all feeling and what we are thinking. Inspired by intellect, I can tell you are...Thank you for being you.

Trump is the icon of irresponsibility. There are many people who want a model who Justifies blaming others & following their darkest thoughts rather than taking responsibility to fix their own problems themselves. So they will defend him like they are defending their own opportunities to do the same

Hey Mitch

Great articles. Kindness speaks louder than hate. I try walk through my life with love, peace, grace, kindness. I decided long ago that hate, holding grudges, or being mean, which I rarely am, but we all lose it sometimes, is healthier for yourself and those around you. I've noticed that a friendly hello, help an elderly person load their groceries into the car, see an elderly or disabled person waiting for a bus with a bunch of groceries in front of the store, I just load up my little SUV and drive them home 🏡. People are so happy and appreciative of small kind gestures. It's the least we can do while walking through this life......and VOTE STRAIGHT BLUE come November.

BTW, I finished your awesome book "Privacy in America" last night. I'll write a review on Amazon and LinkedIn too.

Hoping you are well,

Judy

Although why the hell they want to spend all that time on hate is a fucking mystery. Except, I believe a lack of education or small minds probably explains it.

Mitch Jackson's avatar

It's a manipulation approach so that they get what they want. It's un-American and it's disgusting.

We need to keep standing tall and being loud and make sure we say and do the right things. People are listening and people are watching, especially our kids.

I like this, but Karl Popper comes to mind, with his thesis of the paradox of tolerance, articulated in his 1945 book The Open Society and Its Enemies. In it he argues that unlimited tolerance leads to the disappearance of tolerance, so that in order to maintain a tolerant society, society must be intolerant of intolerance.

Judith Chupasko's avatar

Dear Gladio,

That makes sense, call out intolerance, I find that sometimes people don't even know that they're being intolerable or annoying. Calling it out, as nicely as you can, so they can see or learn. Then intolerance won't dissappear.

I don't know if this is a good example, but when I'm out in my yard for a while, or when I had my horse, working with him in the paddock, I just want peace and quiet sometimes. It's why I bought my property bc my neighbors are not too close. But my one neighbor had a little terrier and a big French Bull Mastiff, I'd be out in the paddock every morning, cleaning Seeya's tall, feeding him, throwing out hay around the paddock bf work. Those dogs would stand right on the woods property line barking at me the whole damn time.....like 40 minutes straight, no supervision, not tied up, leash laws in my town.....I called Tara one morning bc I couldn't take it anymore. She says, oh, they're barking??? OMG!! It was so loud, I knew she had to hear it in her house. I politely said, Tara, they do it every morning, all a want is a little piece and quiet once in a while.....I said, when you hear them barking, can you bring them inside for me??? She's flippant, she said, oh, I didn't hear them. Really??? She did that one morning and never again!!! I would never do anything if I thought I was bothering someone. If I had a dog, I'd teach it to shut up!! Lol.

I have a noise issue, I know that, but some people are intolerable and need to be called out. Shopping is anothet pet peeve of mine. I don't expect the grocery store, Walmart, or Marshall's to be a playground, can I shop for an hour in relatively peace?? Never!!! Lol. Everytime, screaming kids running around out of control, parents ignoring them, not teaching them to behave in public. One day in Walmart Superstore, this kid and his dad were walking around. The kid went to the toy section, picked up a basketball 🏀 and bounced it all over the damn store!! No matter where I went to get away from them, they were literally right next to me all of the time. So I talked to the dad politely. I said, I'm sorry sir, I hate being a bitch, but can you stop your son from bouncing that ball? I said, this is a store, not a basketball court or playground, I don't know if you understand how annoying that really is, can we just shop in peace. He looked at me, nodded, and in Spanish, told his son to put the ball away. The kid put it on a shelf, I looked at the man and said, thanks so much, I really appreciate it. He nodded and smiled. Shit! When my mum took the 4 of us kids to the store or restaurant, she would scold us bad if we were not well behaved or quiet in public. My mum never gave empty threats. If she had to tell you twice, a back hand would fly out of nowhere and smack your mouth or ass!! Lol. One time in public, we were thoroughly embarrassed and from there on out, we're well behaved. I just wonder how parents are, or aren't teaching their kids these days....it brings me to Trump!! Lol. I heard he had rough parents, but that's no excuse to being a horrible cruel adult. Ok, my point, finally, lol, VOTE BLUE in November!!

Sorry for the ranting and raving. Judy

My mom used to be like yours. My siblings and I were rarely interested in testing her limits with misbehavior!

Hey Gladio,

Those were the days!! Discipline meant something. My tiny Italian mum could be fierce!! Lol. I miss her terribly. We were peas in a pod. Lol.

Hoping you are well.

I miss my mom too. She was Scotch/Irish with red hair and green eyes, and a quick hearty laugh, but she had deadly aim and was also very serious about making sure we knew right from wrong. When you did good, you knew it; and when you did bad, well, you prayed! 😏

Judith Chupasko's avatar

I like her too now!!!

Seems like we had similar mums!!

Had to bring in a little Bob Marley kind of theme to the song. It's catchy, isn't it?

I'm looking forward to the day when "hate loses its free ride." As a country, we'd made such progress here. There's never been a time when people couldn't choose to hate, to choose not to understand - and even embrace - the differences among us. There was a time when it was discouraged by society, and perhaps in that discouragement there was (ironically) some malice expressed toward the haters or at the very least, the haters felt as if they were being maligned. That's the space this President entered into when he rode down that escalator 10+ years ago.

Come November, we must vote to change our current trajectory. And then, we must do a better job addressing the root causes of the hate, from a place of understanding and love.

Mitch Jackson's avatar

I remember those days too, Lori. As you know, we're going to get things fixed, but it's not going to be easy. I do see Gen Y and Gen Z really embracing humanity and each other, and that's a good sign.

D G's avatar

Long before the infamous golden escalator. From reading about his father, and hearing how the siblings and their families were pitted against each other, it seems to me hate and clawing at the others to get a bigger piece of the pie was normal life from youth.

Mitch Jackson's avatar

Very normal for them, but not the rest of us. The time for change is now, and they're going to get the message in the midterms

Lori Block's avatar

That's very true. But the Trump family brand of hate didn't infect this country until that infamous escalator ride.

Speaking of the Trump family... I was recently in the vicinity of where grandpa Trump was from (Kallstadt Germany). He became persona non grata there.

Lori Block's avatar

He being grandpa. Not that they like the grandson, either.

There's ZERO growth in comfort. Said differently, comfortable people have stopped growing! When humans stop growing, the next "stage" of life is death... Because FACTUALLY, if you're not growing, you're dying! l'm putting that right here for contemplative consideration ... Apparently, some people are okay with a short, stagnant lifecycle! smh

Judith Chupasko's avatar

Totally agree Tracy!!

Mitch Jackson's avatar

It's okay to grow without hating. And when we see people growing in the wrong direction, it's okay to stand up and speak out.

Mari Frank's avatar

I love this Mitch. For those of us who agree with you, TRUMP and his supporters call us WOKE. I'm proud to be woke because it means I'm compassionate, empathetic, kind, sympathetic, inclusive, understanding and I strive to be emotionally intelligent and self aware. I'm not perfect but I ask myself all the time, what is fair and just?

Of course people have the right to hate. But hate stimulates cortisol, Adrenalin and other hormones in our bodies that over time create stress and cause heart disease, cancer, stroke and other maladies. Hate is a boomerang- it comes back to us insidiously. Thank you for reminding is that love is the answer

So well said.

Gayle Frances Larkin's avatar

People who hate or are angry all the time only hurt themselves by flooding all the wrong elements into their bodies and minds. Rather take the impulse to hate or anger and ask yourself: what is really forcing this emotion? Then act to work at removing the trigger, or eliminating the strident of the impulse. And then you can see clearly the work in front of you. Good luck in your endeavours!

Mitch Jackson's avatar

Unfortunately, they hurt others too: the people around them, the children who are susceptible to influence, the neighbor who simply wants a smile but gets a frown, the stranger who needs help but is afraid to ask. I just don't think there's any room in the world for hate, and I'm ready to see it stop soon. I love the Jimi Hendrix quote above.

Gayle Frances Larkin's avatar

Yes, you are absolutely correct: they hurt immeasurably everyone around them.
