This administration has no incentive to investigate. Obviously, they’re sitting on their hands. Nothing will happen until after this administration is gone.

I worked 33 years in probation and parole in Florida, and was astonished at what happened with Epstein. Perhaps soon we'll get a proper accounting of the files, and justice for the victims will be done. Tremendous analysis.

Perfection would be seeing the violators in a televised tribunal where all the past investigations and testimony would be read. Something similar to how past significant incidents (McCarthy, Watergate spring to mind) have been handled and probing, difficult questions asked.

Mitch, I want you as my attorney if I ever need one again.

Theresa B's avatar

Thank you Mitch for the legal processes explained of what should have happened. Of course it did not happen because Trump stopped it to protect his friends and himself. When the old bastard croaks or is shoved out of the way perhaps then the victims will still get justice.

I'm told that a gynecologist's exam can reveal an incident after decades, as the scars are ever present. Imagine the skyrocketing numbers of victims hidden in medical records. Men at some point must be accountable and charged. To have a civilized world, this barbaric practice must stop. Deal with the mental health issues of the perpetrators.

Mr Jackson, you consistently write that "girls" are trafficked. You, in your profession know that, at a certain level of wealth and public recognition of face and name, sexual perversion and fetishes become monetarily affordable, personally and reputationally risky, and increasingly desirable. Girls, yes, but in the USA girls under 18 can and DO get married (an estimated 315,000 between 2000 and 2021), often to adult men. This practice is legal in 33 of 50 U.S. States. However. Secret sexual contact with boys, activities such as S&M, trump's reputed golden showers in Russia, even rumours of cannibalism... THESE are the perks of massed wealth. Girls, sure, but... Strictly forbidden sexual activities, and providers, Epstein and Maxwell notoriously, who cater to perversions forbidden by law and society, are sought out, cultivated, and rewarded by the very rich.

It is heartbreaking that these now women had this horrific stuff done to them,as young vulnerable girls, some continents away from home and family, but all that matters is the wealthy old men who participated in all this, but let's not"hurt"them.God forbid anyone hold them accountable for abusing young kids!

When are we finally going to evolve away from it being only the men who molest and rape children and young teenagers, whose lives matter more because they have money, power, leverage, etc, etc, but who even cares what this miscarriage of justice is doing to these girls, for their entire lives? It does NOT"go away",it is a permanent scar on their bodies and their minds, hearts and spirits, and it will continue to affect their lives in every way.

Just do the right thing by them!!Stop finding new and creative ways to excuse and cover up for the perverted pedophiles who abused these young girls! They are the ones who deserve justice, not the perverts!

The perverts deserve their lives and reputations ruined, because it is only fitting that it's done,to make up for the ruin it has cost these now women for their entire lives since this happened to them.Like I said, that never goes away. And repeatedly denying them the justice they deserve only makes it worse, not better. The wounds are only reopened again and again,to protect the people who hurt them and robbed them of innocence, peace and a sense of safety.

Make the perverts suffer instead, and help these poor women finally put this behind them and actually heal. After all this time, they are more than deserving of this.

Unfortunately it’s not ONLY men who do this, though it’s (by far) mostly men.

I can understand how power and money can buy obedience, can you give a theory on why this wasn't investigated or pursued by the Obama and Bidens administrations?

Brilliant analysis, Mitch!!

Thank you for this detailed description of what should have happened, and what can still happen — what NEEDS to happen.

I have a lot of people reach out asking about this topic. Obviously, there are a lot of different factors to come into play, but I wanted to give an overview of the general process because this could have been prosecuted very easily had it not been for all the different cover-ups.

Alecia's avatar

Thank you for showing us the steps required to thoroughly investigate and prosecute these cases. They don't seem to be complicated at all. Power and money should not be permitted to interfere with the investigation and prosecution of anyone involved.

Mitch Jackson's avatar

It all comes down to power and money. I subsequently shared a note on Substack about John Bolton, Trump's former National Security Advisor, pleading guilty today for sending 1,000 confidential documents to family members for his book and then sharing that note with a picture of Trump's classified documents at Mar-a-Lago. If you recall, Trump's case was dismissed by the same judge he nominated for the position.

It sure seems like releasing the fucking files with ALL names (except victims) and all situations is ALL that would be needed to blow this out if the water. Nobody deserves protection. Release ALL the files. Unredacted.

If Democrats take back majority control in Congress after the midterms, I see this happening through the power of oversight, subpoena power, the purse, and separation of powers. It's not going to happen until new majority control takes place in Congress. But when that does happen, this information will come out.

cornelia gyura's avatar

Correct!

There is one problem: Florida (I live here for 21 years) is the most corrupt, the most fraudulent state in the US. Every Con artist settles down here because the law adjusts to money. There is nothing else. I could share stories from inside Rothstein case, inside mortgage companies before 2008, inside Mar-A-Lago NOW you honestly would not believe it. It is a lawless circus here. The fraud level is unheard of. Nothing is moving.

Mitch Jackson's avatar

As is noted in the post and clearly recorded in the history of this case, there was a lot of corruption that resulted in a complete failure to prosecute.

Regrettably still on going.

Could you please reach out to the Jane Doe (with Prosaic Down Syndrome) who has a case pending against Leon Black? She no longer has representation and is going it alone. I am a member of a group called The Butterfly Bureau and can provide you with any background details you need

I'm not familiar with that case, but would recommend you having this individual contact local law enforcement and local trial lawyer organizations to start the process. California State Bar Rules prohibit lawyers from reaching out and soliciting clients.
