You’re not alone

You’re not crazy for feeling the way you do. You’ve been watching, waiting, hoping this country still has fight left in it.

On Tuesday, we got our answer. Deep down, we knew it. America still cares. America still shows up.

We don’t bow to kings. We don’t take orders from bullies. We stand up, look forward, and keep going.

Last night confirmed and showed all of us that what we feel, say and do matters. Last night showed that everything we each bring to the table, whether it’s a donation, post, speech and especially a vote, is true power.

True power is the First Amendment right to say what we think, express our views and be loud and strong.

True power is showing up to vote and supporting each other’s constitutional rights while leading with empathy and kindness.

True power is being honest and keeping our promises.

On the other hand, Trump and his enablers have shown us, over the last 11 months, what weakness is.

Weakness is bullying and threatening people and institutions to bend a knee, or else.

Weakness is lying about others and name calling.

Weakness is calling elections you don’t win rigged, and every judge or American you don’t agree with a left-wing radical or worse, a terrorist.

Weakness is shutting down our government and removing food from the tables of Americans while destroying the East Wing of the White House to build a $300M ballroom and throwing a Great Gatsby-themed Halloween party at Mar-a-Lago.

Weakness is labeling peaceful No Kings Day protesters as terrorists, pro-Hamas supporters, Antifa types, and Marxists on display.

Weakness is ordering men and women who joined the national guard and military to protect our country to instead terrorize their neighbors in our own cities.

Weakness is spreading hate and fear to twist the truth and push people into words and actions they’d never want their children to repeat.

Weakness is not keeping your promise and failing to release the Epstein files.

I write here on Substack and speak and litigate in the courts because I know it makes a difference. Sometimes it feels like nobody is watching. Sometimes it feels like nobody cares.

But after Tuesday, I know more than ever before, deep down in my bones, that what each of us is doing matters. I know that how we’re helping each other makes a difference. Every word, every step and every action matters moving forward.

What the results showed

On Tuesday, good Americans stood in lines, voted in record numbers and told not only the nation but the world that we’ve had enough. It was a clean sweep for democracy.

Democrat Zohran Mamdani won the New York City mayoral race defeating Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

Democrat Abigail Spanberger has defeated Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears in the race for Virginia governor.

Democrat Mikie Sherrill won the governor’s race in New Jersey against Republican Jack Ciattarelli.

Democrat Jay Jones won the Virginia attorney general’s race defeating GOP incumbent Jason Miyares.

Democratic incumbent Mayor, Aftab Pureval, defeated Vice President JD Vance’s half-brother, Republican Cory Bowman in Cincinnati.

Pennsylvanians voted to retain three Democratic state Supreme Court justices, granting them additional terms on the bench.

In California, there was no race for mayor or governor. Just one question. Would we step up, take on Texas and Trump, and help the rest of the country? We did. We voted Yes on 50 and helped secure a fair midterm election in 2026.

Every victory speech I watched hit like fresh air. Real people. Real heart. Leaders who care about every American and aren’t afraid to prove it.

While Trump keeps playing the victim and feeding anger, these voices did the opposite. They spoke with clarity, hope, and courage. They talked about building a future that includes everyone.

I’m sharing a few of my favorite Tuesday night victory speeches below because they’re worth your time. They’re reminders that leadership can still sound like truth. They’re not incoherent sound bites and ramblings of scattered thoughts and incomplete sentences that we’re used to hearing from Trump. These are speeches written and delivered in full sentences, with messages that make you believe in America again.

What we feel right now

You might be wondering where we go from here. You might be asking yourself whether it matters. You might be thinking maybe the election was just a flash and the real struggle is tomorrow. You are right to feel all of that. You are right to weigh what this moment means for your kids your grandkids your democracy. The work doesn’t stop. The feelings you carry don’t disappear. The stakes keep rising.

President Donald Trump now in his second term has undermined our faith in our nation’s institutions. He has tested the boundaries of the constitution and weakened our unity. He has made our economy wobble and our global relationships brittle. He and his administration’s rhetoric and actions are dividing our country and harming democracy.

But here’s the deal. The results on Tuesday show we are not powerless.

They show that public will still moves mountains.

They show that citizen voices still roar.

They show that when we choose to show up we matter.

Your role doesn’t vanish

You have a part to play. You are not a bystander. Every phone call every conversation every moment you raise your voice and your vote matters. Your influence might feel small in your neighborhood but it ripples out across our nation. In the quiet morning after election night you still stand.

We must keep going. We must keep pressing for transparency and fairness in elections. We must keep holding leaders accountable. We must keep showing up for inclusion fairness and our shared values. We must keep turning our concern into action. We must keep turning our voice into our vote. Because democracy demands it. Because our kids demand it. Because history demands it.

Tuesday showed that we still have a chance to protect our rights to self-governance and dignity and free speech. Yesterday’s election reminded us that the power of citizens matters more than ever.

Moving Forward

Stand up. Talk to someone. Write an email. Don’t wait for someone else to lead. Lead.

Vote in every election. Support fair maps, fair courts and inclusive communities. Ask your elected officials tough questions. Demand accountability. Show our children that participation matters. Show the world we are awake we are alert we are Americans who care.

We’ve had enough of fear.

We’ve had enough of the lies.

We’ve had enough of being silenced.

We’ve had enough of divisiveness and selfishness.

We’ve had enough of the hate and the anger.

We’ve had enough of Donald Trump and his enablers.

Now we stand. We move. We speak. We act. We vote. We keep building the democracy our families deserve.
