My mother never kept quiet and I learned at her knee. This was the time of people dropping in, unannounced, for coffee, raspberries in cream or a slice of homemade bread with butter and the kids played outside, except sometimes I'd sit silently at the kitchen table and hear my mother support MLK in a small rural northern town, years before before Memphis.
It works differently now. Folks are rabid online and some aren't much better in person. Attending a garage sale to see a a giant F Biden flag on the wall aren't the people I'd advise it's high time to 'LeavingMaga.org'. But connecting with a remaining vestige of their former humanity is the advisement.
Yes, Mitch! Speak up, it needn't be loud, probably not loud but clear. We don't need to reach agreement with others to plant seeds that will grow with time. Most Trump supporters are good people but pride gets in the way of admitting they have been wrong.
Another barrier to self-correction is their feeling of belonging to a group with shared beliefs. Best to give them a receptive alternative to MAGA.
