But when they make assumptions about the composition of their fan base, that's when they really enter dangerous waters. I'm an avid sports fan - I even started my professional career as a sportswriter for a daily newspaper (something i deviated greatly from professionally). I'm also someone who finds the personal behavior of this President, going back as far as his days as a racist, regulation breaking landlord days, and the policies of his Administration to be abhorrent.
Recogizing that the opinions of these two don't represent the views of the entire NFL, I won't be "boycotting" the league. Rather, I want to make it clear that NFL fans are as diverse as the U.S. is.

There are roughly 100 million independents. Virtually all of those voters do not vote. Math told me why. I’ve attached a copy of a response from a determined and dug in independent and she shares why. Her response mirrors virtually every conversation I’ve had with independents. Voters have a right to vote, vote for the candidate of their choosing, or not to vote. Washington and Lincoln said voters have an obligation to vote and vote in favor of the country. Not being an active voter has consequences. Trump. Autocracy.
This person shares that independents wait for “a better choice”. Wait and see is not active participation and effort to cause positive change.

You know how broken the system is and yet you have worked tirelessly to represent lady justice and protect the rights of people caught up in the system. Voters can look at this emergency in the same way. Active participation is required.
Republicans are tearing the country down and it’s going to get worse on November 4th is voters do not stop this on November 3rd. Change will not come if a massive turnout occurs. Over the past 50 years, voter turnout for midterms averaged just 45%. Turnout must be at least 70%. Hungary and Canada both achieved 70% and that was barely enough to turn autocracy away.
The country is facing its most consequential election in November 3rd. There is no time to waste for every voter who wants the country to continue as some form of (work in process) Democracy, to actively choose to vote, vote, and remove republicans and trump from power. After that the real work would begin to reengineer how the country functions so all citizens are better represented and respected.

Specifically, Jeffrey talked about the one page document signed by Blanche that protects Trump et al from tax exposure. When I saw the document the first time I looked at it from a tax and fraud (Trump) point of view.
Toobin highlighted a much, much greater fraud. He advised the wording targets and provides trump et al with legal protection against civil exposure and that the wording goes well beyond the immunity protection Roberts provided to Trump and it goes beyond what a self pardon will provide Trump. The pardon would provide protection against criminal liability (I know you know that). This one page document is part of a three part protection action - the third component being a self pardon.
Toobin warned these two documents cannot legally be challenged and that even if democrats take control of Congress on November 3rd, there is little they will be able to do because Trump learned and became so successful stonewalling Congress in his first term, that there will be no way to for democrats to hold any credible investigations.
I doubt very much that any volume of voters knows that Trump literally just gave himself a Pardon against civil liability. Clearly there are extreme criminal steps being taken to protect autocracy and the danger level is much higher than enough voters realize

In 2014 and 2015 when Trump started calling people names and empowering others to go after and attack people who disagreed with him, the large majority of America became silent. They didn't need the hassle. They didn't need the friction in their lives. They didn't need the problems. Fast forward to today and look where we are. It's time for everyone to stand tall, speak out, and get this thing fixed. It starts with your voice and my voice. It continues with registering and voting in this year's midterm elections. And then it continues by taking massive action thereafter.

This isn't about just having a disagreement with a particular president. It's about protecting and preserving democracy. These guys don't understand that.
