Mitch, I do appreciate your sharing wisdom. During Trump’s first administration I never posted, had never posted, but did catch news programming, but agonized alone. Without your time and energy this time, I would be lost. You bring information, analysis, and comfort that we are not alone. Once I started posting after the election a year ago, my urge was to share information and repost the essays most important for me. This important time in our history and the unique situations won’t allow me to stop seeking what is happening. I believe our collective voices have at least been heard. I totally agree that family and health are most important. For me, I can’t find peace yet, as our bodies have taken a hit from this madman. If we lose the mid-terms, I will have to give it up totally. You must know how grateful we are for all you accomplish in this moment in our history.
Such sage, calming advice. My new mantra. I let people get under my skin too much. They have no right being there and upsetting me. THAT, I can control with your amazing advice. I tend to have knee-jerk reactions, I'm firey 🔥 and fiesty. Lol. But for my own healths sake and those around me. I need to be the best version of myself for me, my friends, my family.
I treat all of this like a game. I know it's not, but by doing so it allows me to deliver my best content and performance. Also makes everything so much more enjoyable. I tell young trial lawyers to do the same. At first they look at me like "what are you talking about. This is serious stuff." But then they figure out it's not about minimizing the importance of the case or situation, it's about putting yourself in position to do your best. And if done right, actually enjoy the process at the same time.
Should you be interested, and have the desire to experience the tested & proven experience shared from the wisdom of Mitch Jackson, I recommend you do.
In simple terms,
stress is detrimental to you. For example, literally live the Serenity Prayer, and I've learnt the difference between a response as opposed to reaction, and the importance of time, knowing anything/anyone that causes you to anger, controls you. A response is a structured, conscious, & constructive approach to situations and/or events to which you elect to opine.
I too have learnt numerous lessons along the way, whereby my health & serenity remain paramount.
A single lesson which I learnt from my own father, whom I considered an alcoholic on his day-off:
"It's not where you live, it's how you live; everyone has an opinion which are subjective; therefore, always seek to align yourself with the facts, the truth."☘️
You can have an objective view points based on facts, principles, laws, evidence - the Truths!
Therein is your strength to draw from; all how you look at it to deal with it! Silence or passing on reacting is an option & is your right! Many times the Best!
I relate to so much of what you've written here... I had a different approach to getting there. But whatever way you get there you do, because your life depends on having peace and serenity
I went into a twelve step program when I was very young. I had an enormously stressful job on wall street with the major firms that we all know. and as a woman, it was even more challenging. Over the years, the program combined with so much internal work has given me peace and serenity and happiness beyond my wildest dreams. I refuse to let things that are out of my control, break my serenity.Even with major challenges, I see how much I deserve to be happy.. thank you Mitch. I thoroughly enjoy reading your articles on LinkedIn.
Thank you, Ellen. Two things. First, congratulations on all that you’ve done and are doing to not allow your serenity to be broken. I know it’s not easy, and big kudos to you. Second (and this is a little secret just between us), my articles are part of the process. When I see something reported on the news that bothers me, I do the deflect, reflect, and select dance. What you see me writing and talking about is the final third step of the process. It’s also very good therapy for yours truly. :-)

As a psychologist, I would like to say that this is really good psychology.

You got it!
What an awesome post today! I love it! Thank you for generously sharing your learned wisdom.
Hey, works for me so I thought I'd share. Thanks!
Mitch - did you write this for me today? 😉
Haha. Both of us. 🤠

Running and paddle boarding help too. What's your approach?
