Why I’m Here
I write on Substack because the stakes for our country are at a breaking point. Trump is back in the White House, and every single day brings a new decision from his administration that chips away at the Constitution, destabilizes our economy, and drives Americans further apart. These are not small missteps. They are calculated moves designed to consolidate power, silence opposition, and rewrite the rules in ways that benefit the few at the expense of the many.
I focus on pulling back the curtain on what is really happening. I do not sugarcoat the truth because we do not have time for polite half-truths when democracy is on the line. My perspective comes from three decades as a trial lawyer fighting in courtrooms, a business owner making decisions that affect real people, and someone who has dealt directly with politicians long enough to know the games they play.
I have seen how power is used, how it is abused, and how the consequences land hardest on everyday Americans who are too busy working, raising families, and keeping the lights on to follow every twist and turn in Washington. My job here is to connect the dots for you, to call things what they are, and to make sure you know exactly what is at stake before the next election arrives.
The Dangerous Shift in How People Think
Something fundamental has shifted in America, and it is not for the better. Political conversations no longer revolve around verifiable facts or the principles of law that are supposed to guide us. Too many people have locked themselves into beliefs that are disconnected from reality, clinging to them as if they were unshakable truths. They shut the door on reason, ignore credible evidence, and reject the kind of critical thinking that has always been essential to a healthy democracy.
When confronted with undeniable proof of wrongdoing, they do not engage with the substance of the issue. Instead, they default to a familiar script, repeating talking points they picked up from a network whose name begins with the letter F, as if that alone settles the matter. It becomes a reflex, a quick pivot away from accountability and toward distraction. They redirect the discussion into a maze of unrelated conspiracy theories, not because those theories hold water, but because it is more comfortable than confronting the uncomfortable truth. And in that avoidance, the real issues, the ones that determine the future of this country, are left unaddressed.
From Dialogue to Denial
I’ve been sharing my views for decades, starting with printed newsletters mailed out to subscribers, then moving into early blogs, podcasts, and videos when the internet began reshaping how we communicate. In those earlier years, people were more willing to meet each other in the middle of a conversation. Even when we disagreed, there was space for honest dialogue and the possibility of learning something from one another.
That changed with Trump’s rise in 2015. The culture around political discussion hardened. What used to be debate became deflection. Facts stopped being the shared starting point, and truth became negotiable. Now, when I post about constitutional violations, gaslighting, or the deliberate use of misleading statistics to push harmful policies, the response from his supporters is as predictable as a script. They sidestep the substance completely, refusing to address the actual issue, and instead recycle outdated, irrelevant talking points. The goal is not to argue the merits, it is to run out the clock on accountability.
The Bigger Problem We Face
The real crisis runs deeper than any single bad policy or corrupt act. It is that millions of Americans have stopped demanding accountability from the very people they elect to represent them. When those officials put personal profit, political loyalty, or raw power ahead of their duty to serve the public, too many citizens shrug it off. They look the other way when decisions are made that harm communities, strip away rights, or even break the law.
This is not passive neglect. It is the slow erosion of civic responsibility, the quiet surrender of the obligation every citizen has to hold leaders to the standards our Constitution demands. That silence gives cover to misconduct. It signals to those in power that they can act without fear of consequences. And the longer this goes on, the more the foundation of our democracy weakens. Every single one of us should be alarmed, because once that expectation of accountability is gone, it is far harder to rebuild than to lose.
Who I’m Writing For
I have no illusions about changing the minds of the die-hard loyalists. They are locked into their worldview, and no amount of evidence or reason will move them. They are not the audience I am speaking to. My work is for the people who still care about truth, who still value the rule of law, and who understand that protecting democracy is not a part-time job.
Since returning to Substack in February, I have watched these people step forward. They are the ones exhausted by the shouting matches, the online pile-ons, and the nonstop barrage of political noise. Many had pulled back from the conversation entirely because they were tired of being attacked for speaking their minds.
I understand that fatigue, because I came close to stepping away myself after the 2024 election. I told myself it was time to focus on other parts of my life, my law practice, my private mediations, my family. It was my family who reminded me that my voice mattered, that clients, friends, and readers relied on me to say what they could not always say for themselves. They reminded me that silence helps no one except those who thrive in the dark. That reminder is why I am still here, writing every day, refusing to back down.
The Silent Majority That Stayed Home
In 2024, an estimated 85 to 90 million eligible voters stayed home. That is not a small oversight, it is a massive absence of civic participation that changed the course of our country. Some convinced themselves their vote would not make a difference. Others assumed Trump would lose to Kamala Harris and decided they could sit this one out. That collective miscalculation handed Trump the keys to the White House for a second term.
Now the consequences are impossible to ignore. They are watching authoritarian behavior take root in plain sight. They see inflated and misleading crime statistics being pushed to create a false sense of crisis. Those lies are then used as political cover to send ICE, the National Guard, and even active-duty military into American cities.
This is not hypothetical. It is happening right now, and it is a direct threat to civil liberties. People who thought their absence from the voting booth would be harmless are beginning to see the cost, and it is far higher than they imagined.
The Path to 2026
I believe we can take back the House in 2026 and, if momentum is on our side, the Senate as well. This is not just about winning seats, it is about regaining the ability to stop harmful policies before they become reality. Control of the House means control of the purse, and in Washington, that is everything. Without congressional funding, Trump’s executive orders, political stunts, and power grabs stall before they start.
A House majority also brings back the authority to launch real oversight. That means public hearings that shine a light on the decisions and abuses this administration hopes to keep hidden. It means demanding answers under oath. It means creating a public record that future leaders, prosecutors, and historians can use to hold wrongdoers accountable.
This is about more than politics. It is about restoring the balance of power our Constitution promises and using every tool available to protect the country from further damage over the final two years of Trump’s term.
Why I’ll Keep Writing
The feedback I’ve received makes it clear this work matters. People are responding, not just with public comments but through private messages that share their fears, their frustration, and their determination to push back. Some tell me they had all but given up on engaging in political conversation, and that the clarity and honesty of these pieces have pulled them back in.
Business leaders are stepping forward too, and that matters more than many realize. Our national stability is tied directly to economic strength, and when those who drive the economy start speaking out, it sends a signal that the stakes are not abstract, they affect jobs, markets, and the financial future of every household.
That is why I will keep writing, keep digging, and keep holding the line on accountability. The only alternative is silence, and silence is surrender. Once we stop speaking out, we hand the field over to those who thrive in the absence of scrutiny. That will not happen on my watch.
What Comes Next
America will not repair the damage Trump is causing overnight. The harm runs deep, into our finances, our institutions, and the credibility we once held on the world stage. Restoring those will not happen in a single election cycle. It will take years, possibly a decade or more, of steady work to undo reckless policies, rebuild trust, and reestablish the guardrails that keep our democracy intact. The challenge is immense, but it is absolutely possible if enough of us commit to the fight.
It begins with record turnout in 2026. That election is the first major checkpoint, the moment we can stop the bleeding and put a legislative brake on the most dangerous parts of this presidency. A strong showing at the polls will not just change who holds the gavel in Congress, it will change the trajectory of the country we hand to our children and grandchildren.
So speak up. Show up. Refuse to fade into the background. Keep making good trouble, the kind that forces change and demands accountability. The future of America is not something we wait for, it is something we decide, and that decision is being made right now.
