I can not believe I was ever a member of the Republican Party. But, then again, so were Presidents Lincoln, Grant, Roosevelt, Eisenwhower, Ford, and H.W. Bush; Senators Vandenberg, Baker, Dole, Weicker, Romney, Baker, and Kassebaum; as well as, Representatives Hogan III, Railsback, Cohen et al.
I am 83. I was a Young Republican and voted Republucan many times. But this is not the Republican party of the everyday man who have struggled to make this country great. They are completely degraded with no empathy or care for anything but money and themselves. It is no longer the Party of Lincoln or Eisenhower. I have run like lightening from these Republicans.
So much of what we get to see of politicians in action is more theater than reality- there are so many false accusations, distractions, and blatant LIES in order to promote one party over the other and none of it seems to result in benefits for American citizens.
And then you have all the ignorant suckers and losers racists and uninformed who get to vote - personally I think there should be a competency test to be able to vote - voting should be like driving a car where you have to prove you have the knowledge in order to get the privilege

Many who are uneducated are very wise, and many who are very wise are stupid. We must allow everyone to vote. We need to increase it rather than minimize it to have a full throated electorate.

I have the same trepidation and mistification, but I think this election is the turning point. If it doesn't go well ( blue tsunami), I think there will definitely be a populace uprising. It won't be pretty.
