What the Actual F%!k America
Is This What You Want
Is this what you want for America. A president standing on live television telling you the streets of Washington D.C. are overflowing with violent criminals when the facts from the Department of Justice prove violent crime is at a thirty-year low.
On August 11, 2025, Donald Trump stood with his cabinet members flanking him, declaring a public safety emergency, taking control of the Metropolitan Police Department away from the people of D.C., deploying the National Guard, and placing that power into the hands of Attorney General Pam Bondi.
This is not a law-and-order moment. This is the beginning of something far darker.
The Facts You Need to Know
Last 30 years
Last 5 Years
Long before Trump took office in 2025, violent crime in Washington D.C. in 2024 dropped thirty-five percent from the previous year, the lowest level in more than three decades. Homicides fell thirty-two percent. Robberies dropped thirty-nine percent. Armed carjackings plunged fifty-three percent. Assaults with a dangerous weapon went down twenty-seven percent, hitting the lowest level in over thirty years. D.C. does not even rank among the top 25 most dangerous U.S. cities when assessed by overall crime rates.
The work of local prosecutors and law enforcement has targeted the real drivers of violence. They dismantled gangs and crews running drug markets, leading to sustained drops in crime in the neighborhoods they once controlled. In one neighborhood, violent crime fell sixty-six percent in the six months after a major crew was taken down, and that reduction stuck for years. These are not numbers that signal an emergency. These are numbers that show a city making real progress.
The Real Reason for This Power Grab
Trump is not responding to a crime wave. He is responding to political collapse. His tariffs and economic policies are failing. He has not ended the war in Ukraine. He refuses to release the Epstein files. His approval rating has fallen to the lowest level of his second term. Americans are angry.
So he does what authoritarians do. He invents another crisis. He floods the air with fear and half-truths. He surrounds himself with loyalists and troops. He centralizes control of law enforcement in the nation’s capital, placing it directly under his Attorney General. This is not protection. This is positioning for unchecked power.
Why This Should Terrify You
This is the first time in our history that a president has stripped a city of its local police authority in peacetime and handed it to a political appointee. It is happening in real time. Every Republican in Congress who stays silent is complicit. Their refusal to act under their constitutional duty to check the presidency violates their oaths, enables abuses of power, and abandons checks and balances.
If you believe in democracy, truth, and facts, this is the moment to stand up. What happened today is not a political maneuver you can ignore. It is a dangerous escalation that lays the groundwork for a presidency without limits.
What Real Accountability Looks Like
If crime were truly rising, Washington D.C. residents already have tools to hold leaders accountable. They can call for emergency sessions of the city council. They can replace the mayor or the police chief through regular or special elections. They can demand policy changes through public forums and advocacy. None of those processes require the President to step in and take over. Fabricating an emergency to override local control is not leadership. It is a direct assault on democratic governance.
Where This Goes If You Stay Silent
Everyday Americans have a choice right now. Look away and normalize this or confront it head-on. The people who continue to support Trump after today are enabling the erosion of our democracy. If you cannot distinguish between right and wrong in this moment, you are helping him dismantle the foundation of the country.
Good people must use their voices, their money, and their influence to stop this before it spreads beyond D.C. Between now and the 2026 midterms, there must be relentless public pressure on every member of Congress to act. When the elections arrive, every Republican who stood by must be removed from office.
If we regain control of Congress, we regain control of the federal budget. Without funding, Trump’s authoritarian ambitions stall. If Republicans lock in gerrymandered districts designed to keep them in power, and win the midterms, the damage may last for decades.
This is the Moment
The choice is yours. Stay silent and watch the country slide into authoritarian rule, or stand up now and fight for the Constitution, for your community, for your children and grandchildren. This is not a drill. This is not politics as usual. This is a coordinated seizure of power.
You have a voice. You have a vote. You have a responsibility. Use them.

P.S. I am furious watching reporters fumble their duty. Their job is to interrogate power, ask hard follow ups, demand documents, verify claims in real time, and stay on a question until the truth shows up. A PR company exists to shield a client, script talking points, launder narratives, and deflect scrutiny. Those roles are different.
Stop cozying up for access, stop parroting the briefing book, stop kissing the White House’s ass to keep a chair in the room, and start doing your job. The first reporter with the guts to do this becomes the next Bob Woodward or Carl Bernstein. Right now it is embarrassing to watch.
No paywall. No barriers. Just the truth, wide open for anyone who needs it.
If this hits home, subscribe for free and share it. Want to pitch in with a paid subscription? Amazing. But it’s never expected. Because facts shouldn’t be gated, they should be loud, clear, and accessible to all.

Mitch, your thoughts are grounded in many verifiable developments: Trump faces significant economic headwinds, struggles with complex foreign policy challenges, remains under pressure regarding controversial issues like the Epstein files, and experiences fluctuating public support.
His recent law enforcement and security moves in Washington, D.C., while legally bound, feed concerns about authoritarian tendencies.
Trump is indeed inventing a crisis, spreading fear, centralizing law enforcement control, and surrounding himself with loyalists—a classic authoritarian playbook. He must be stopped at all costs.
I keep wondering who the next Bob Woodward will be. There is certainly enough in the public record to make things become very uncomfortable for DJT et al. I also wonder if anyone will have the courage to be that functionary in challenging times. In the end, it all comes down to the GOP majority in the House and Senate. I see no evidence that the majority of republicans are committed to their oath and their duty. There certainly is not anyone in the cabinet that is not a complete Trump toad. And there are too many average Joes and Janes in the American population who have not come to their senses. They either remain supportive of Trump and his misguided policies or completely non-vocal and silent while democracy melts away. In the meantime, let's all just sit back and enjoy the great fishing catches posted by RFK Jr. while the CDC gets shot up. Does anyone else believe RFK Jr's unhinged vaccine skepticism and misinformation had any connection at all?
