Trump’s New Goal: Make It Too Expensive To Sue Him
Did you know that buried inside Trump’s Republican-backed tax-and-spending bill (his “Beautiful New Bill”) is a provision that would make it almost impossible for regular Americans to challenge his policies in court?
If you want to sue the government and get a temporary order stopping one of his policies, you’d have to post a massive financial bond first. If you lose later, you’re on the hook for the government’s legal costs. And if you can't afford it? You lose your shot at justice before you even start.
I believe this is straight-up legal intimidation and pure “access to justice” bullshit.
Trump has lost hundreds of cases because his policies violate the law. Now with this new provision, he’s not trying to win in court, he’s trying to make sure you never get there in the first place. If this passes, it will silence people by making the price of justice too high to pay.
That’s not how a democracy works. That’s how a king operates.
