Facts supporting statement that crime in Washington, D.C. is at a "30‑year low":

In 2024, violent crime in D.C. dropped by about 35 percent compared to 2023, reaching its lowest level in over 30 years. See https://www.justice.gov/usao-dc/pr/violent-crime-dc-hits-30-year-low

Specific crime categories also saw steep declines: homicides down 32 percent, robberies down 39 percent, armed carjackings down 53 percent, and assaults with a dangerous weapon down 27 percent (same DOJ resource and link)

As of early August 2025, violent crime had declined another 26 percent year‑to‑date compared to the same period in 2024, and overall crime dropped about 7 percent. See https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2025/08/11/trump-national-guard-dc-crime-crackdown/

D.C. officials, including the mayor, have confirmed this crime reduction and described crime as being at a 30‑year low. See https://www.politico.com/news/2025/08/08/disproportionate-and-extreme-dc-officials-protest-trumps-policing-incursion-00500931
