Trump Wants Our Cities for Military Training. Not on Our Watch. Not Ever.
Turning neighborhoods into battlefields is an assault on our freedom, our families, and the promise of American democracy.
“I told Pete we should use some of these dangerous cities as training grounds for our military, national guard, but our military, because we’re going into Chicago pretty soon. That’s a big city.”
The President of the United States is openly talking about turning our cities into training grounds for the military. He told his Defense Secretary that Chicago and Portland are on the list. Trump wasn’t kidding. He’s floating the idea of treating American neighborhoods like empty lots for live drills. Let’s dive in further and see why this isn’t normal or acceptable.

Here’s the deal folks. The military trains for war. Training involves mistakes. Training involves risk. Weapons misfire. Vehicles overturn. Explosives fail to detonate when they should and detonate when they should not. The purpose of training is to prepare for real conflict, to make errors in a controlled environment so those errors are not repeated in combat. That is why training takes place on secure ranges, in simulated cities built on remote bases, in places designed to absorb the danger.
American cities are not empty mock-ups. Even if Trump falsely tells you they’re “dangerous cities,” because they’re not. He’s talking out of his fat bloated ass.
Our cities and communities are where families live and work. They are filled with children walking to school, parents heading to jobs, small business owners opening their doors, and seniors trying to live in peace. Turning them into laboratories for military exercises puts innocent people in the crosshairs of risk they never agreed to bear.
Citizens are not guinea pigs. We do not exist to be used for military training or to serve as backdrops for displays of military muscle. What is being floated now is not protection, it is an experiment on our own soil.
What Americans choose to do after Trump’s remarks today will set the course. He dangled that idea to measure the reaction. Our job is to make sure he never tests it again.
Once the military is normalized on city streets, the line between training and occupation erodes. Armored vehicles outside grocery stores stop being shocking. Soldiers in formation around a courthouse stop being out of place. Power shifts silently away from civilian authority into the hands of those holding rifles. History shows where that leads, and it never ends well for a free people.
This is serious. The President is testing boundaries and conditioning the public to accept a role for the military inside civilian life. If that idea takes hold, the spirit of our democracy will wither. The government will no longer serve the people, the people will be expected to serve the government.
Every voter should see this for what it is. Every parent and grandparent should ask themselves whether they want their children growing up in a country where soldiers practice maneuvers down Main Street. Our founders warned us about concentrated power and military force turned inward. The warnings are written into the very structure of our government. Ignoring them now will come at a cost that lasts generations.
We have a duty to say no. American cities are not training grounds for war. They are communities built on freedom, law, and the promise that government answers to its citizens. That promise is being tested right now, and silence is not an option.
