The Bolsonaro Pass
Donald Trump campaigns on a closed border and on criminals pouring into this country. He then gave Flávio Bolsonaro a pass and said so himself.
The New York Times reported that a White House official arranged the private jet that carried Bolsonaro to Miami. Trump adviser Jason Miller arranged that flight. Secretary of State Marco Rubio recommended admission and Trump approved it.
Officials at the State Department and the Department of Homeland Security granted Bolsonaro and his wife Fernanda and their two daughters humanitarian parole. Argentine President Javier Milei helped him cross Argentina on the way out. Bolsonaro presented a canceled Brazilian diplomatic passport on arrival in Florida, and American officials expect a green card application to follow.
The Facts
You should know exactly who got that pass. Bolsonaro is a far right senator from Brazil. He had just lost the presidential election to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes had ordered him to surrender his passport. Federal police are investigating him in two alleged money laundering schemes, one tied to disgraced banker Daniel Vorcaro and one tied to lawyer Willer Tomaz and the betting business.
