Trump Said Americans Wouldn’t Pay One Dime for His Ballroom. Monday Night, Republicans Quietly Buried $1 Billion for It Inside Their Immigration Bill.
Trump demolished the historic East Wing of the White House in October 2025.
When he first announced the new ballroom project, he promised the existing White House infrastructure would be preserved. That promise disappeared along with the entire East Wing.
He then repeatedly promised the American people that no taxpayer dollars would be spent on “his new ballroom.”
Monday night, buried inside their immigration enforcement funding bill, Senate Republicans quietly slipped in a request for $1 billion labeled as “White House East Wing security enhancements.”
Sounds harmless until you realize those funds are tied directly to the so called “East Wing Modernization Project.”
That project is Trump’s ballroom.
First the historic East Wing was demolished. Then the promises about preserving the White House and the project not costing you a dime disappeared. Now taxpayer money is being funneled into the project behind carefully crafted language designed to hide what’s really happening.
A leading Democratic responded, “Republicans are on a different planet than American families…Republicans looked at families drowning in bills and decided what they really needed was more raids and a Trump ballroom.”
Before Trump tore down the East Wing, there was no formal congressional debate, no meaningful public process, and no vote authorizing the destruction of a historic part of the White House.
He never asked permission.
A temporary occupant of the People’s House made the unilateral decision to erase a piece of American history without discussion, transparency, or approval.
The lies, the misdirection, the way this is all happening is disgusting.
Your vote in the midterms matters more now than ever.
You still have the power to push back, demand accountability, and protect what belongs to the American people. Use it.
