They Brought a Triple Murderer Home and Called It a Win
He Killed Three People. Trump Flew Him Back Like a Hero.
The Trump administration flew a convicted triple murderer back into the United States and told us to celebrate. They wrapped it in a flag, called it a homecoming, and hoped we wouldn’t ask questions. So let’s ask them. Let’s demand answers. Let’s talk about Dahud Hanid Ortíz.
Ortíz isn’t a political prisoner. He isn’t a wrongly detained American. He is a former U.S. Marine who, in 2016, walked into a law office in Madrid and executed three people. One of them was a Cuban legal assistant. The other two were unarmed. He fled the scene, ran to Venezuela, and lived under the radar for years.
When Venezuelan authorities finally caught him, they tried him, convicted him, and sentenced him to 30 years in prison. That’s the justice the victims’ families were counting on.
In July 2025, that justice was shredded. In a prisoner swap led by Trump’s State Department, Ortíz was put on a plane with 10 Americans who had been detained in Venezuela. He was slipped onto that manifest and flown back to Texas, without a public explanation, without the consent of the Spanish government, and without telling the families of the people he murdered.
The Venezuelan officials tried to warn us. They told U.S. agents at the airport, You’re taking home a murderer. Trump’s team did it anyway. And when it hit the news, they shrugged it off like it was just one name among many. No apology. No accountability. No plan to return Ortíz to Spain or Venezuela to finish serving his sentence.
This was a deliberate act, signed off at the highest levels of Trump’s administration. A man found guilty of brutally killing three people was paraded into the United States like he was a victim, not a criminal. That choice sends a message. And that message is dangerous.
The families of the victims are furious. The Spanish people are outraged. And those of us who still believe in justice, in consequences, in the rule of law, should be shaking with rage.
We are not talking about an immigration policy. We are not talking about a political prisoner. We are talking about a man who took three lives, ran from responsibility, and was embraced by the government that should have been hunting him.
Add this story to the one I shared yesterday about Jared Wise, and you have the new America that Trump is building. One where convicted killers are flown in while innocent families are ignored. One where justice is traded away for headlines. One where your safety, your children’s future, and your belief in the system are treated like poker chips on a table run by fools.
You deserve to know why this happened. You deserve to ask who approved it. You deserve to stand up and say, this is not what America is supposed to be.
