My Closing Argument

Members of the jury, everyone in this room assumes Donald Trump serves out his term. That is the one thing I am here to tell you will not happen.

Before I say another word, let me hand you the thing that cuts against me. You have heard this before. For a decade, someone stands up, points at this man, and swears the end has arrived. And every single time, he is still standing. So if you are already rolling your eyes, you have earned it. I am not going to ask you to trust a prediction. I am going to lay the evidence in front of you and let you reach the verdict on your own.

Come with me first to a barn in Wisconsin.

Rain hammers the metal roof so hard you can barely hear. The air smells like wet hay and diesel. The President of the United States sits across from NBC’s Kristen Welker, a tractor and hay bales behind him, and for about 50 minutes he holds it together while she asks about Iran, about a fund that could pay people who beat police officers on January 6, about the economy. Then she asks him for one thing. Evidence. Proof of the election fraud he keeps claiming. He has none. So he calls her network crooked. He calls her darling. Thank you darling, have a good time. You hear the chair scrape. He unclips the microphone, stands, and walks out while she is still talking.

I have stood in front of a lot of juries. People walk into that room wanting to watch a man crack. I know the look. I know the sound a person makes right before the bottom drops out. And I am telling you, that barn in Wisconsin was the tell. It has only gotten worse since. Watch him on the Iran war, insisting it is over one day and threatening to reopen it the next, and you see the same tell all over again.

So here is my theory of the case, and I am putting my name on it. Donald Trump resigns the presidency in 2027. No impeachment removal. No election loss. He quits. And the door that lets it happen swings open on one night you control. This coming November.

Stay with me, because the road from a televised tantrum to a Rose Garden goodbye runs straight through your ballot.

Why This Time Is Different

I told you that you have heard the fall predicted before, and you have been right to doubt it. So let me tell you what makes this different from every other time. It is not the man. The man has always been like this. It is the machine.
