The mid terms are just a dry run for 2028 and beyond with whatever they have up their sleeves. I'm concerned about some "national emergency" or a vote so close it goes to SCOTUS. A Bush Gore redo. Just vote like your country depends on it people!
Tyrants have been around since the beginning of time. They die, go to jail or go into exile. The one thing they can't escape is death and Trump's time is limited on this earth. His health is in decline with some thinking he has congestive heart failure perhaps entering or already in the last stage of the disease. Incurable & the meds will stop working. Just a matter of time.
Meanwhile here's a few reasons to elect Democrats to take back Congress:
1. Begin investigations with subpoena power
2. Block nominations
3. Refuse to give money to agencies that are ignoring the rule of law
Good thing JD Vance doesn't have an ICE cube's chance in hell of getting elected president in 2028. I hadn't fully considered the pardon angle. That motivation increases the chance of Trump stepping down. Maybe states will figure out a way to get Trump for crimes that a federal pardon doesn't cover--like NY did. Remember, he might have gone to jail if he hadn't been elected president. Of course, his greatest protection is likely to comes from a full descent into dementia over the next few years, making him incompetent to stand trial. That could be the most satisfying outcome of all.
1) The Dems in general are spineless squirrels who repeatedly squander their power
2) The machinery floating DJT is a criminal enterprise that will apply every crooked means to subvert the midterms, because it is demonstrably above the law. Come what may, DJT will cancel the results based on some lie if the results are unfavorable.
I said the same things months and months ago. IF he loses the House in November, and IF he fails to mount an excuse for a crisis that allows him to declare an emergency, seize the ballots and machines, and unleash soldiers on American citizens, he will cut a deal, tuck tail, and run. He resigns, Vance pardons him. Before the end. I think he does that anyway. If cçx̌ çccf ft y66 somehow they hold Congress, it happens days or hours before power transfers.
If it happens in 2027, I'm really not scared of Vance. Vance has succeeded where ask others have failed: uniting everyone. We agree am nothing - not that the sky is blue or that the sun will rise - but we ALL despise that man. And he had the charisma of a wet, unwashed dog blanket. There is no way he can hold MAGA - he is too weak and effeminate, too "metrosexual" for their tastes.
All of the reasoned arguments may very well be true, if not arguable. However, the last section is exactly why I disagree with an impeachment or feel relieved that hes gone. It would leave behind the full force of those who are carrying out Project 2025 to its conclusion. Article II, Section 4, I believe is our only option. Before the creature resigns.
Most days I feel this administration is acting more like a private equity company that bought a country and is extracting as much money out of it before they fire all the workers and toss the carcass on the garbage heap. Billionaire like Thiel are already ex-patriating their families. Trump may very well need that 747 to flee the country…
Mitch, outstanding article and all seems very plausible. But. What if there is no election? I just don’t see this egotistical, selfish, etc.etc.etc. Sociopath ever giving up his power?

Stay focused and don't stay home!
Donnie won’t resign. He’ll simply lie more.
Thank you Mitch
Eloquent writing
Awaiting the unfolding …
Well written illuminating article
We’d better get those lawsuits filed quickly then.

By your own set condition the Democrats have to win the midterms. I don’t see them doing that …
Early chicken counting is fatal
Thank you 2024 Voter. Next time, do what you would for a mortgage, trust but verify.
The scenario ignores two gaping flaws:
1) The Dems in general are spineless squirrels who repeatedly squander their power
2) The machinery floating DJT is a criminal enterprise that will apply every crooked means to subvert the midterms, because it is demonstrably above the law. Come what may, DJT will cancel the results based on some lie if the results are unfavorable.
