How does a potential rollback of the illegal Trump tariffs have a negative impact on the economy? It's not like tariffs collected to date were really making any dent in the existing debt picture. What am I missing?
I believe that for the most part, it would help the economy. Subject to the few exceptions mentioned. That's why he'll try and take credit. Let's see what happens.
Trump may try but his droning as of late, zombie like appearance and literally seeming to fall asleep in the presence of others is really a frightening thing to behold. And his complete lack of concern for the man that just toppled over in his presence ... what a samaritan. What is even worse is how many "news outlets" incorrectly identified who the man was. Complete rush to report ... even if it factually wrong. Happens every day. No responsibility/accountabilty at all.
Thanks Ned. I have mixed feelings. If I right then the American economy will be better off but Trump will position himself to claim another win moving forward. If I’m wrong and the tariffs are upheld, the economy is going to get hit even harder which will help dems win the 2026 midterms. And who in the hell knows what SCOTUS will or will not do. Thank goodness for the much needed distraction of Thursday night football! ;-)
I have faith that all but the hard-core M.A.G.A. followers are catching on to Trump, and that his days of drumpfing things we hold dear may well be ending. Hey, hope springs eternal if not my hair.
Thank you thank you. I so appreciate your clarity and the calm explanation. And yes- 47 will ALWAYS try to take credit for cleanups and never the messes. But we the people know what’s what.
Trump will leverage the loss in a very convincing fashion. And that’s not a good thing rolling into the 2026 midterms. Not sure how I feel either way. Shared more in an earlier response to @Ned McDoodle

Another fine and accessible analysis, Mitch. Thank you.
