When Sen. Corey Booker was speaking, he asked Chairman Grassley for a roll call vote of the committee (I believe I have these details correct). Initially, Grassley seemed inclined to agree with Booker's request. A younger individual (male, in a suit with dark hair) jumped to Grassley's shoulder and was urgently conveying some bit of information. Grassley immediately reversed course and ruled Booker's request to be "out of order." Who was that person who seemed to "twist Grassley's arm" and seemingly get him to rapidly change his mind?
Thank you Mitch. I have a concern about your suggestion that citizens remember this corruption when they vote in midterm elections. I fear that Trump will make it so there will not be an election in 2026 therefore, I don't think we can wait. Additionally, with redistricting, I'm concerned that the Republicans who are Maga will do exactly what Congress is doing, which is rubber stamping anything that their dictator wants. I think everyone should be calling their senators and writing them and protesting in the streets Waiting until an election just won't have the impact - if we can vote at all. The challenges is there's so many things to protest about that it's like putting your fingers in myriad holes in a sinking ship. Perhaps it would help to prepare and share a template for concerns citizens to call and or write their legislators to protest what's going on. It's my understanding that every call is logged in every legislators office that should have some impact. What do you think?
Yes, action right now is so damn important. I didn’t mean to minimize that fact. But we also need to focus on what we can control, sharing our concerns, protesting, writing, speaking, and donating time or money to local and national candidates and organizations that will make a difference. When the 2026 midterms come (and I believe they will), we need to empower all 90 million eligible voters who sat out in 2024 to show up. The rest of us need to show up too.
Regarding Bove specifically, as I mentioned in my reply to Beverly in this thread, the reality is that 98% of the cases that come before him will be everyday matters any judge can handle. It’s the other 2%, the Trump-related policy issues, where Bove will likely side with Trump. And yes, that’s a problem. But it’s beyond our control right now, and I refuse to waste time or energy on things outside of it.
This action is totally devastating to the American people and our nation. We are going to see damage at every level of our justice system and court rulings that work against the rights of people and the laws of our nation. A total bomb of injustice has exploded and every human in our country will feel the impacts one way or another except billionaires. Fascism now rules America. Cruelty and Chaos will dominate.
I'm upset about this one too. But I do want to keep the "result" in perspective. About 98% of what he'll be ruling on as a judge will be very routine matters. Frankly, cases that any judge would be fine with handling. The risk is if and when a Trump related case comes before him. We all know how he'll rule. That's the big issue. We have an AI Agent we've set to follow his actions and rulings. If he does something wrong I'll write about it here on my Substack.
