Differnt news outlets are reporting several people arrested for vandalizing the Reflection Pool. I’m sure that is in response to President Trump’s misdirected allegations about vandalism. The arresting authorities have access to the camera feed you discuss. I would think they would be embarrassed to be arresting individuals on such “non-crimes.”
But it was vandalized--starting in April of 2026. In fact, there is a great deal of video evidence of the vandals in action over subsequent months. And of the criminal boss who ordered it.
To fix the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool properly from the ground up, engineers must completely ignore the superficial "American Flag Blue" coating and address 4 non-negotiable issues first:1. Re-Engineer the Expansion Joints for ShiftingA 2,000-foot concrete pad naturally expands and contracts like an accordion due to freezing winters and scorching D.C. summers. The expansion joints between the concrete slabs are currently leaking and poorly sealed, allowing water to escape down into the soil and vice versa.Why it must be fixed first: No monolithic surface membrane can handle this severe thermal stretching; it will rip right down the seams. As someone who has worked with polyurethane, I need to ask a few questions:
1. After pressure washing and dry time were any adhesion PULL TESTS performed on the 1. pressure washed surface? 2. With a bonding agent?
3. If failure, a “light” sand blasting with say, ground walnut shells, and then 1 and 2?
It looks to me like trump’s long slit down the middle is where the two halves of the spray overlapped. Would need a better photo of the pool to know.
Also, could the substrate and piping UNDER the pool have been damaged by trumps motorcade with heavy vehicles through a 103 year old concrete pool?
I’m going to guess all of the above was a contributing factor.
