He was a horrible, problematic child, undoubtedly from the beginning. He learned very early how to manipulate people to get what he wanted and perfected his narcissism along the way. One reason why he was sent to military school was because he had collected knives against his father's warning not to. He also hit his teacher. Multiple incidents throughout, as you can imagine. He's evil.
Even his insults lack style and panache. Put him on a corner in Bed Stuy and they would verbally shred him. Put him in the Yale Club and they would make him cry just by asking for his transcripts or board scores. The latter is lame but he would get seriously rattled by it. He lacks facts, concepts and has a vocabulary below median on the elementary school short bus.
Trump is the icon of irresponsibility. There are many people who want a model who justifies blaming, insulting, belittling & dehumanizing others so they can follow their darkest thoughts rather than taking responsibility to fix their own problems themselves. So they will defend him like they are defending their own opportunities to do the same
