Thanks, Mitch. I always appreciate your point of view and expertise. Here is serious concern I have: If the Democrats win the House and perhaps the Senate in November, what do we do if the Republicans refuse to seat the winning Democrats?
This all rings true, but where will Elon Musk be in all of this? And if he doesn’t interfere remotely, then we need to make it past January 3rd. I don’t say it out of fear, I say it out of clear-eyed cynicism. It’s so much more than just November. Assuming we take it all back and can move forward with our country still intact, anybody involved in the corruption of the past 10 years needs to go to jail.
I think being strategic at this moment is important. The hypotheticals if the Republican party will even validate the outcomes, if not, then what. Three steps ahead will count.

Inflation is hurting our economy and the economy of the world. Gasoline prices are over $4.00 a gallon. Diesel prices are over $5.00 dollars a gallon. Healthcare has been ripped away from millions of Americans families. SNAP has been cut dramatically where children are seniors are going hungry. Then it will tun out of funds after September. Utilities, food, rent, mortgage, car and homeowners insurance are skyrocketing. People aren’t able to buy homes much less keep up with their mortgage payments. If that’s not enough all that money was cut from the budget for funding tax cuts for the wealthiest 2%.
Our interstate’s, secondary roads are crumbling due to the tax cuts.
Public education for our children has gone underfunded. That money has been redirected towards private schools. The cuts in social services,healthcare, education,Medicare, Medicaid and other services will not have enough fund’s to offset the costs for those who need them.

It is important to check your voter registration status NOW, while you still have time to re-register before the election. I'm a former election judge here in Texas, and I've voted in almost every election over the past 50-plus years. I checked my VR status a few days ago, and found out that my registration status has been SUSPENDED! I'm one of 153K voters in San Antonio, out of approximately 1.2M, who were erroneously (illegally?) put on the Suspense List. I'm a retired white male, hardly the usual target of this kind of voter suppression. If it can happen to me, it can happen to anyone.
So check your VR status and re-register, (if necessary) ASAP! And then VOTE!
Like you, Mitch, I've had a good life and to date the policies of this Administration and GOP-controlled Congress have had little impact on me. (I can't say "none" because of healthcare costs, but in the grand scheme of things, I can deal with it.) The future though could be quite different - much worse - if, as you discussed, some balance isn't restored in our system of checks and balances. It's critical that majority control of Congress return to the Democrats and that Democrats retake the White House in '28 or perhaps a ticked comprised of a Democrat and reformed Republican. (I don't see anyone emerging on the GOP side that would be a net positive for our country.)
