Does anyone with any decency still not think this creature is the devil or at least a demon?????

Most simply, an excellent piece. The story goes well beyond Trump. This culture hasn’t happened just because he came on the scene.

This message is handed down from father to son. It will not be solved until fathers teach their sons that “Real Men Protect Women,” instead of real men being all about conquests.

I am very proud of my freshman grandson, who posted on social media:

“7 men at Cornell University drugged and raped a woman for hours at a frat house. They sent messages to group chats saying they had “free p*ssy" anyone want to join? Their conviction? Writing an essay. This is patriarchy. Are you listening?'”

The fact that they posted in social media chats tells me they saw nothing wrong in what they were doing.

Male contempt for women is the cause of Trump as president...he's the symptom not the cause.

Well you have to look at the people like Trump hang around with tate brothers ludnick Epstein that's all you need to know about how perverted their messages toward young men and the fact that he can do nothing wrong and ever be punished for it as a mentality that quite frankly needs to be corrected and if it means them going to jail for doing things that are morally and against the law so be it.

Bad men are so rich, powerful, influential, and organized that everyone else can't protect anyone from them.

Well said, Mr. Jackson. Every man who has a daughter he cherishes should be having conversations about this topic with his sons.

An important essay about shaping societal values of respect and protecting one another. In a day of a re-surgent manosphere, this message assumes a paramountcy. Because a woman submits, or is too wasted not to object, when four or five buddies show up does not imply consent, at least a consent made by free will.⚖️

This sort of situation occurred at many colleges. It was called ‘pulling train’. It always struck me as a gang rape. Drugs may or may not have been involved, but alcohol almost certainly was. Only my sister attending an adjacent women’s college alerted me to these feelings.🕯️

Fortunately, I never face that dilemma of courage versus complicity. Nevertheless, I have to confess that I likely would have looked the other way with unease at the time of the crime, followed by loads of subsequent self-loathing. The peer pressure for silence would likely have overwhelmed me.💔

Thank you, Mitch, for speaking out and setting an example. I have no doubt that your son understands what being a real man is all about and that he treats women with respect, and that your daughter understands what she should expect and deserve from the men in her life. Neither of them, nor any of us, deserve the current occupant of the Oval Office.

Leading by example left the house a long time ago with Trump. I hesitate to say that every person who sees one type of behavior, necessarily follows the same path, but I have seen people justify their actions if they can find even one other person who does the same. I thought Trump fell in to that category. The good old boys club is alive and well. Trump is their leader, but the organizations and law enforcers should realize by now that society expects better. Trump isn’t a leader that anyone should use as an excuse for anything.

Trump said his point out loud to men to never respect women. His upbringings was a mistake. To say the least.

I said it before only real men know how to respect Women....

Absolutely. It doesn't have to be complicated. We need more kindness and empathy in the world. That's real strength.

I fear we have fallen so low as a thinking, well-informed nation that we may never recover. Though the majority of us are not cultists, so many of us are, or are wilfully ignorant, without functioning consciences.

I know how you feel, but I honestly believe you're confusing noise with numbers, and that's not the case. Most of the people in America are good people who want nothing but good things for their family, their neighbors, and their friends. Things have become significantly skewed over the last decade because of Trump. He's exposed and enabled the racist, disgusting and criminal underbelly of a small but loud segment of people who in the long term, do not control or dictate how the rest of us feel or the direction this country is going to go. Change starts next month. I'm confident of this.

BigDaddy52's avatar

Oh, no. I well understand that the 'squeaky wheel' gets the grease, though the rest of the 'machine' may be in decent working order. In this case, that loud minority has dictated the direction for too long. Yes, the change has begun and next month must ratify that. Then we will see if the decent majority will truly rectify this mess.

I can comfortably speculate that every president before this one, during my lifetime, would have responded with something like the following, and meant it: “My heart goes out to that young woman, and I trust our prosecutors and courts to get to the truth, and every young man in America should hear this from me: a real man protects women and steps in the moment he sees something like this.”

But not this one. He and his administration, and anyone who enables this kind of warped perspective on people, justice and life, needs to go. I'll see you in the midterms to start the process.
