Why I’m marching on No Kings Day
Because what’s happening right now isn’t politics as usual. This isn’t some debate about tax policy or foreign relations. This is about whether the United States of America continues to exist as a free democracy or slides into the very thing our founders fought a revolution to prevent.
Donald Trump has become exactly what we were warned about, a man who believes he is above the law, untouchable, and entitled to rule rather than serve.
I believe every American who still cares about our Constitution, who still believes in due process, equal protection, and basic decency, needs to get off the sidelines and show up this Saturday. This isn’t optional. This is the fight for our country’s survival. Detail and locations are right here.
We Don’t Have the Luxury of Looking Away
Trump isn’t hiding what he’s doing. He never has. In fact, he’s banking on you getting tired of caring. He wants you exhausted. Numb. Distracted by the chaos he stirs up every single day.
We know who he is. Some are brave enough to call him out for what he is: a stone-cold liar.
As Gov. Newsom alluded to, Trump is still the same man who told you Mexico would pay for the wall. The same man who called dead American soldiers “losers” and “suckers.” The same man who mocked a disabled reporter on live television. The same man who bragged about assaulting women and paid hush money to cover up his affairs.
The same man who pardoned insurrectionists who attacked police officers defending our Capitol. The same man who cheered on white supremacists in Charlottesville, looked the other way while his supporters plotted to hang his own Vice President, and told the Proud Boys to “stand back and stand by.”
The same man who stole classified documents, hid them in bathrooms, and lied about it. The same man who has been convicted of crimes in open court and may still face even more criminal cases that would have ended the careers of any other public servant.
The same man who stood on the debate stage and said, out loud, that he would be a dictator “on day one.” And now he’s living up to it.
This is no longer about his lies. We know he lies. This is about his power grab. It’s about his relentless assault on the very foundation of American government. And this Saturday, we either stand up to it or surrender to it.
We’re Watching a Crime Syndicate Wearing a Presidential Seal
I believe in what this country was built on. Not the sanitized version they teach in some textbooks, but the messy, imperfect, revolutionary idea that no one, not even a president, gets to rule unchecked.
No kings. That’s what this protest is about.
Trump and his supreme court have already declared himself immune from prosecution while in office. He has sent federal troops into states without consent. He has gutted independent law enforcement agencies and turned them into political weapons. He’s dismantled environmental protections, erased transparency laws, and handed power to oligarchs, billionaires, and foreign strongmen who help enrich his family.
This isn’t leadership. It’s looting. It’s government as a family business. It’s a crime syndicate wearing a presidential seal.
He’s selling off the White House, one foreign deal at a time. Qatar. Saudi Arabia. Dubai. He’s launched crypto scams that wiped out billions while insiders cashed out. His family holds secret business stakes while his administration tears down financial safeguards meant to stop corruption. He’s even tried to sell presidential access to the highest bidder through personal crypto coins and offshore real estate.
This is not accidental. This is not a misunderstanding. This is deliberate, organized, systemic corruption, and it’s happening on our watch.
If We Don’t Fight Now, There May Not Be Another Chance
I don’t say these words lightly. As a lawyer, I’ve spent my career defending the law, the Constitution, and the institutions that hold this country together. I know how fragile they are. They only work if we all agree to follow them. Trump has shattered that agreement.
He has crossed every line. And every time, he gets away with it, he pushes further.
Seizing state National Guard units without consent. Gutting task forces that seized Russian oligarch yachts and foreign dirty money. Allowing cartels, kleptocrats, and organized crime to operate in the shadows while dismantling the financial transparency laws that once protected us.
He’s surrounded himself with criminals, loyalists, extremists, and conspiracy theorists. People like JD Vance, Kash Patel, Pam Bondi, Kristi Noem, and Steven Miller are not public servants. They are loyal foot soldiers of a man who thinks democracy is something to be dismantled, not defended.
And let’s not forget: he’s doing it all while our manufacturing sector is hemorrhaging jobs, the debt is exploding, health care access is shrinking, and basic services are crumbling under the weight of his giveaways to billionaires and mega-donors.
This is not about left versus right. This is about freedom versus authoritarianism. Law versus lawlessness. Truth versus delusion.
The Real Threat Is Both Trump And Everyone’s Silence
Trump is counting on one thing above all: that we’ll freeze. That we’ll tell ourselves it’s too late. That we’ll assume someone else will stop him.
That’s how authoritarianism wins. Not in a single dramatic moment, but in a thousand small surrenders.
Every time we let a new abuse slide. Every time we excuse a new lie. Every time we decide the next election will fix it, instead of standing up now.
That’s why No Kings Day matters.
Because this is the moment where we say: not here. Not now. Not ever.
Because silence is no longer an option.
Because our kids are watching.
Because the world is watching.
Because if we don’t show up, who will?
We Still Have the Power — If We Use It
We are not powerless. Not yet. But the window is closing.

That’s why I’ll be standing shoulder to shoulder with my fellow citizens this Saturday. Peacefully. Legally. Loudly. Because I refuse to sit quietly while one man tries to crown himself king.

Every generation is handed a moment where they have to decide what kind of nation they want to pass on. This is ours.
