I Wrote a New Book!
And honestly, I didn’t plan to. But after spending the past year watching how the Trump administration and technology have systematically dismantled the privacy rights of everyday Americans, and after seeing how fast AI is accelerating the problem, I couldn’t stay quiet anymore.
So I sat down and wrote the book I wish every American had on their nightstand right now.
It’s titled, Privacy in America: What Every American Needs to Know, and I wrote it for one reason: because the people being hurt the most by the privacy crisis in this country are the people who know the least about it. Hardworking families. Small business owners. Parents. Seniors. People who never signed up to have their most intimate details harvested, packaged, and sold to the highest bidder. This book is my way of leveling the playing field.

A Taste of What’s Inside
People don’t know what they don’t know. When it comes to your privacy, this is a problem.
Right now, this very second, your phone is broadcasting where you sleep, where you worship, and where you go for medical care. Your car is reporting how fast you drive, where you stop, and whether you buckled your seatbelt. And that smart speaker sitting on your kitchen counter? It’s listening. Your TV is watching you.
And here’s the part that should make you angry.
Data brokers are packaging every single one of those details into a digital dossier about your life, and selling it. To advertisers. To insurance companies. To scammers. And yes, to government agencies like ICE and the FBI that would normally need a warrant to get their hands on that same information.
Let that sink in. The government is buying what it can’t legally demand.
Now let’s talk about AI, because it’s pouring gasoline on this fire.
Deepfake voice clones are fooling family members and bank representatives. AI-powered bots are running romance scams and financial fraud at industrial scale, not one victim at a time, but thousands simultaneously. And those chatbots people are confiding in like digital therapists? They’re collecting every word and training on those private conversations by default.
But it gets worse.
Facial recognition systems are capturing biometric data. I’m talking about your face, your eyes, and the geometry of your skull. Unlike a stolen password, you can’t change your face if that data gets breached. Fitness trackers are feeding your health data to companies that HIPAA was never designed to regulate. Period-tracking apps are generating reproductive data that now carries real legal consequences in post-Dobbs America. And DNA testing companies are holding genetic secrets that don’t just expose you, they expose your entire bloodline, especially when those companies hit financial trouble and start selling assets.
And here’s what really keeps me up at night.
This surveillance starts at birth. Children are being tracked through games, apps, and school technology platforms that harvest their data years before those kids can even spell the word “privacy.”
So where’s the law in all of this? Here’s the brutal truth.
The United States is the only major democracy on the planet without a comprehensive federal privacy law. That’s not a typo. The world’s most powerful tech economy is operating without basic privacy guardrails for its own citizens. What we have instead is a patchwork of state-by-state protections, manipulative consent pop-ups engineered to manufacture your “agreement,” and background screening dossiers that can determine whether you get an apartment or a job, and you might never even know they exist.
This isn’t a future problem. This is happening today.
That’s exactly why I wrote this book. It cuts through the noise and shows you exactly how your privacy is being taken, who’s profiting from the taking, and what the law actually does and doesn’t protect. Most importantly, it lays out precisely what you can do, starting right now, to fight back.
Because here’s what I know to be true after decades in the courtroom: rights you don’t defend are rights you lose.
Your privacy is no exception.

This is awesome Mitch!!! VERY important topic. I do not know how you and Hussein Hallak find the time to write all of these amazing articles and books for us....to help us, to keep us informed, especially when our own government doesn't care about us. They're turning us all into 1s and 0s!!! Not good.
