Mr. Trump,

This is my formal resignation from ICE. I will no longer carry out your orders. I cannot enforce policies that violate the Constitution, the law, and the dignity of the people I swore to protect. I’ve worn the badge. I’ve done the job. I believed in it. But I’m done pretending this is law enforcement. It’s not.

I joined ICE to uphold the law, not to become a pawn in an authoritarian power grab. What we’re doing now is not policing. It’s intimidation. It’s unconstitutional. It’s immoral. And it’s tearing this country apart.

You pardoned over 1,500 convicted January 6th rioters, people who assaulted between 130 and 170 of my fellow law enforcement officers. You called them patriots. I call them criminals. When I saw that, I realized exactly who you were protecting and exactly who you were willing to hurt. That was the moment I knew this wasn’t about border security or public safety. This is about control, hate, and raw political power.

I was at MacArthur Park this week. I saw what we did. I wore the mask. I rode in on the armored vehicle. I helped shut down a public park filled with families and kids. We were told it was about enforcement. It wasn’t. It was about fear. It was about showing the community who’s in charge. We showed up like an occupying army, not peace officers. There were no cartel members there. Just working people. Just neighbors. Just kids.

And I looked around at the agents beside me, some of them ashamed, most of them silent, and I thought, this isn’t who we are. Or at least, it shouldn’t be.

The law says agents must identify themselves when making arrests. We didn’t. The Constitution guarantees due process. We denied it. The Fourth Amendment protects against unreasonable searches and seizures. We disregarded it.

We’ve turned the mask into a weapon. We’ve erased our names and our accountability. We’ve followed illegal orders from a convicted felon giving marching instructions from the Oval Office. And every one of us knows it’s wrong. So do you.

We can’t claim to serve the Constitution while hiding our faces from the people we’re taking into custody. We can’t pretend to uphold justice while breaking it in broad daylight. And we can’t call ourselves law enforcement while obeying the lawless.

I’ve talked to other agents. I’m not the only one. We’re sick of the lies. Sick of being used. Sick of being told to harass our neighbors, criminalize poverty, and turn America into a surveillance state with no checks and no shame.

We’re supposed to be better than this. This country is supposed to be better than this.

So I’m walking away. And I’m speaking out.

No more black masks. No more secret arrests. No more orders that defy the law and every value I was raised to believe in.

To every agent who’s still inside and feels the same way: It’s time. Say no. Say it out loud. Refuse to follow another illegal command. Take off the mask. Walk off the truck. Stand up for what’s right before there’s nothing left worth standing for.

To the American people: this is not about immigration. This is not about safety. This is about power, fear, and control. And if we let it continue, we all lose, immigrant or not.

I’m not afraid of losing my job. I’m afraid of losing my country.
