He's a Joke, and His Latest Scare Tactic About Communism Proves It. I’m Calling Bullshit, and You Should Too.
I have spent more than three decades in courtrooms across California, questioning witnesses, cross examining con men, watching people lie under oath with a straight face, and learning the exact sound a desperate man makes when he needs a distraction. Right now the President of the United States is making that sound louder than I have heard in my entire career.
He wants you scared of communism. By the time you finish reading this, including the three footnotes, you will see exactly why he grabbed that word, exactly what he is hiding behind it, and exactly what you are going to do about it in November.
Let me be blunt. Everything he says in this video is untrue. He’s making it up as he goes (well, Steven Miller is but that’s another post for another time). This is dangerous, sad and pathetic.1
The man who is supposed to be leading this country, and by some measure the free world, has lost the plot. He’s pulling things out of his diaper covered ass that none of us want to see or hear. He is panicking about an election that is coming for him in November, and knows things are not going to turn out well for him.
Follow the Timeline
Trump did not campaign on fighting communism. You did not hear this word from him a year ago. You did not hear it a month ago. You started hearing it around America’s 250th birthday, when he stood at his own rally in Washington and rolled it out like a new product launch.
Less than a week. That is how long this communism panic has existed. Ask yourself what happened over the last several days to make a cornered man reach for the oldest scare word in American politics.
What He Needs You to Forget
He needs your eyes off the Epstein files. His own Department of Justice is sitting on what many believe are the most damaging two million pages in its possession, and it refuses to release them.
He needs your eyes off the war. He started a war in Iran with no vote from Congress, and the bill for that decision is landing on our national economy and the global economy at the same time.
He needs your eyes off your grocery receipt and your gas pump, both climbing while he points at the sky.
He needs your eyes off the grift. Since he walked back into office, this man has pulled in around 2.2 billion dollars through self dealing and conflict of interest deals. When I say conflict of interest, I mean his own interest, paid for by you.
Communism is the shiny object. Everything I listed is the thing he needs you not to look at.
We Have Seen This Movie Before
None of this is new. America already lived through the finger pointing communism allegations, the blacklists, the ruined careers, and the neighbors turned into informants during the Joe McCarthy era. The lawyer whispering in McCarthy’s ear back then was Roy Cohn, the same Roy Cohn who later became Donald Trump’s personal attorney and mentor. I have written about this history before, and I am telling you now, this is the same tired playbook, run by a man who learned it at the knee of the guy who wrote it.2
The playbook has one purpose. Divide you from your neighbor. Keep you afraid. Keep you fighting the person next to you so you never turn around and look at the person robbing you.
Here Is the Truth He Does Not Want Named
No one is closing your church. No one is coming for your religion. No one is trying to erase your faith. That is a lie built to frighten good people into voting against their own families. We are not communist for wanting a better life.3
What a lot of Americans actually want is simple, and you already know it in your gut. Lower prices at the store. Higher wages in your paycheck. Public transportation that runs. Health care that does not bankrupt you. Police and fire departments with the funding to show up when you call.
We want the benefits of tax dollars going to real people in real neighborhoods. Keep it away from the ballrooms, the private jets, the 4 million dollar golf weekends three times a month, and the gold monuments stamped with one man’s name across the capital. We want thriving towns and cities where families look out for each other. We want equal opportunity and equal access to medicine, to the courts, to business, to investments and the chance to build real wealth, with clean air and clean water protected for the kids coming up behind us. We are talking about wanting what the ninety nine percent of Americans need and what this administration has ignored since the day it took the oath.
That is common sense and basic decency. He calls it communism anyway, because he needs you afraid and too rattled to notice what his hands are doing. He knows better. He is counting on you not knowing better.
This Is Where You Come In
The men and women in his administration who are propping this up are an embarrassment, and in plenty of cases I believe what they are doing crosses into criminal territory. They enable it every single day, and they own every bit of it.
So here is the plan, and it is not complicated.
We take back Congress in the midterms, and we do it big. A landslide.
A Democratic majority in Congress holds the authority to subpoena, to conduct real oversight, to control federal spending, and the separation of powers the Founders built for exactly this moment. With those tools, Congress writes laws for every American in every state, red and blue. Congress repairs the damage this administration has done to our standing around the world. Congress investigates the largest act of self enrichment this country has watched happen in broad daylight. Congress hauls people in front of the cameras and makes them answer for the salaries you pay and the duties they owe you.
This is why I keep telling you the same thing. This election means everything.
If you want to save this country, you vote Democrat, and you send an overwhelming majority to the House and the Senate. Do that, and we will be okay. I promise you. Sit this one out, vote independent to make a point (it won’t) and America falls into a hole I am not sure we climb out of in our lifetimes or in our grandchildren’s.
The Next Time You Hear It
The next time Trump or one of his mouthpieces warns you about communism marching into America, you have my full permission to tell them exactly where to shove it. You are not buying it. You are going to look them dead in the eye and let them know that is the dumbest thing you have heard all year. Call them out. Say it in public. Say it loud. Say it every single time.
When enough of us do this, enough times, the fear stops working. The people running around screaming about communism become the ones who have to think twice before they open their mouths.
