Katie Zacharia’s first press conference didn’t go well. The White House told a major news bureau that it wasn’t happy. That means he wasn’t happy.
And as the day moved forward, things got worse.
New reporting indicates that, despite her multiple statements to the contrary, Zacharia isn’t a licensed lawyer. Here’s what’s being reported.
Earlier today, Judd Legum published a new post doing a deep dive on whether or not Zacharia is a licensed attorney, as she claims to be. As of this writing, the facts appear to indicate she is not.
This is more than simply deceiving the public or showing us once again how inept this administration is when it comes to hiring honest and qualified people. There are legal consequences.
California Business and Professions Code section 6126(a), makes it a misdemeanor, punishable by up to one year in county jail and/or a $1,000 fine, to advertise or hold yourself out as entitled to practice law without an active State Bar license. Section 6125 flatly prohibits the unlicensed practice of law itself. Her strongest exposure is the General Counsel title at Fix California (see the screenshot in the article), because even a lawyer admitted in another state must register under California Rule of Court 9.46 before doing legal work for a California employer, and a person admitted in no state at all has no lawful path to that job.
While we’re here, let’s add more flavor about who Zacharia really is, as evidenced by her social media posts:
1/ She claimed the 2020 election was stolen and repeatedly urged Trump to run in 2028, which the Constitution prohibits.
2/ She has called climate change a hoax and green energy a Chinese plot.
3/ After California Governor, Gavin Newsom, urged peaceful protest in response to Trump sending federal troops to Los Angeles, Zacharia wrote that the federal government under Trump should take over all of California. She later deleted the post.
4/ In September 2025 she blamed “leftist transgender assailants” for “at least a dozen” school shootings.
5/ On a podcast last year, she claimed that mifepristone, the medication used in abortion pills, contains the same chemicals Nazis used in extermination camps. That claim is demonstrably false. Mifepristone blocks progesterone. The Nazis used poisonous gases, including hydrogen cyanide released from Zyklon B. They are entirely different substances.
6/ In August she reposted an article claiming 8 in 10 women miscarried after the COVID vaccine. It’s a figure that is false and contradicted by established scientific and medical data.
7/ In June 2025, she called for suspending habeas corpus in now-deleted replies to Stephen Miller’s claim that sanctuary cities are a criminal conspiracy.
8/ On Truth Social she claimed, “The radical left Hollywood elites are sick pedo cannibals. Change my mind.”
Trump didn’t drain the swamp. He dug it deeper and filled it with even more sewage.
I’d set the over-under on her tenure at one Scaramucci, and I’m taking the under.
