This past week was a difficult one. Frankly, I ‘Blanched’ at the trove of horrible events this week, so much so I couldn’t even read or watch the news. Thankfully, you’ve stood tall using your incredible skill set to offer some glimmers of hope as Lady Liberty watches her ideals get torched. It’s heartbreaking to witness. I don’t envy your position. This is hard work. Thank you for doing it and being here for all of us.
It can be so tough to watch and listen to. The last thing I want to do is scratch an open wound or traumatize anyone, but at the same time I want to make sure everybody appreciates what's going on, what the facts are, and what needs to be done. Allow me to be the filter that channels most of the noise between me and you, and in return I'll do my best to inform, educate, and add as much value as possible in the best way possible.
BTW, the length of your thorough and comprehensive pieces was never as issue, the issue is my lack of time to bask in your brilliant posts. This is the reason I’m so selective as to who I follow here on Substack.
As a UK subscriber your plan works for me too although with so much ‘noise’ around this administration I admire the fact that you can filter it down as much as you do.
I laughed out loud. I'm not sure I'm going to be able to filter this down any further, but I'm certainly going to try. We enjoy the UK when we get over your way. The virtue of Substack is that it allows independent writers to find their own audiences. The downside is that because all of the authors are independents, most with small audiences, it is not a democratic forum. Compare it to subscribing to a newspaper, where all of the writers are available at one price. On Substack, readers pay a la carte for the writers they want to read in full. That costs about $1,000 per year to fully read a dozen writers. As with the rest of the economy, full access is restricted to the wealthy.
The new plan is good and fair within how the platform works. The writers are worth their money. Still, most of them lack any economy of scale, so it is unfortunate that many — maybe most — readers are priced out of full participation.
I totally get it and don't want to ever price anyone out of full participation. I'll have to check, but I believe over on my About page, under subscription options, I actually let readers know that if there is a challenge, to simply reach out privately. I'm sure there is something we can do to accommodate everyone.

I support this transition. I found myself strapped for time but always at least scanned if I did not read entirely. I'm still waiting to hear from y senators re: Todd Blanche and if there is anything he could do they would not support. For Monday consideration - nearly everyone knows the administration is corrupt on multiple fronts (AG nomination is front and center). What is it going to take for the American people to take out the trash? I know mid terms are critical but my patience with that approach has worn so thin, it is practically non-existent. And that is my greatest fear. That apathy will once again grip the nation or that Trump will finally find a way to truly rig the results. The immunity gravy train has to be derailed. I'll be interested to read what may be in the works foe November. Can you address mail in ballots vs. voting in person. I an genuinely concerned the USPS will have monkey business going on. Now that he's been confirmed, things are not looking good at the Department of Justice and for America in general. I cover all on Monday morning.
I don't expect anything to happen until after the midterms and only when Democrats take back a majority control in Congress. Moving forward, you'll see conversations taking place regarding some of the issues in the article you shared, but it's going to be a slow process in 2027 and 2028.
We're going to try to figure things out this first week, but I think we have a plan, and I think everyone's going to like it. Having said that, tomorrow's issue is a long one because it has to do with Todd Blanche being sworn in as Attorney General and all the bad things I think are going to happen between now and whenever. Moving forward, the content should be shorter, to the point, and flow comfortably in line with what I've shared at our updated About page.

Returning to France then happily matched the government changes in the US. Abroad, we hear a lot about Pdt Trump and all the changes made by his administration but we don’t hear much about the other side of the coin! This is worrisome in many ways. Hey Steve, appreciate the feedback and suggestion. We have a couple of mountain bikes. I love getting out when I can. For me, running has just always been a relaxing activity, and the joints have seemed to hold up over the years. What I really enjoy is paddle boarding, and I try to get out a couple times a week around the island at Dana Point. Usually first thing in the morning or late at night during a sunset when the water is flat. I wish none of this was happening, but until it stops, we are going to keep reporting on the issues as we see them. Thanks for your input, engagement, and participation.
Several courts have dismissed Trump’s various criminal actions his Justice Department has filed. Some of those dismissals came with scathing opinions. What are the ethical consequences for the Justice Department attorneys who brought those frivolous claims on behalf of the Trump Administration?
You would think they'd be substantial, but unfortunately, because so many have to do with discretionary decisions, the consequences just aren't that severe. Do pay attention to the Florida-based anti-weaponization Trump IRS lawsuit, because the judge did refer her concerns out to the appropriate state bar agencies. I think there will be consequences down the line. Some of the things I talk about in tomorrow's issue regarding what I anticipate Todd Blanche doing moving forward could potentially subject him, along with several other attorneys with the DOJ, to disciplinary action. We'll have to see how things pan out.
