Back From Key West and Still Confronting Trump’s Lawless Presidency
A week away reminded me that no vacation can distract from the reality of a President who treats the law as optional and our democracy as disposable.
A week in Key West gave me time to recharge, celebrate my birthday, and deliver a keynote. Even while enjoying the sun and the water, there were facts I could not set aside. They weighed on me as heavily as the humid air that clings to you in Florida.
The President of the United States is an adjudicated rapist and a 34-time convicted felon. He has been found guilty of so much fraud in New York that he is barred from running a business there until 2027. He was forced to pay two million dollars to charities because he stole from his own foundation.
These are not whispers, they are not rumors, they are the documented reality of the man who sits in the Oval Office. Despite this history of open and public crimes, he has never spent a day in jail, never admitted fault, never shown the slightest sign of shame, and never once attempted restitution or accountability.
That is why it comes as no shock that this same President would order the National Guard to invade Washington D.C. for no reason other than to play dictator. When the Capitol itself was actually under siege, when elected officials and police officers were under direct attack, he withheld that same response. He let violence rage unchecked against his own government. He ignored the cries for help. That choice made clear where his loyalty stands, and it is not with you, your family, or this country.
When a leader treats the rule of law as a nuisance, the Constitution as an obstacle, and the American people as pawns in his personal theater, he will eventually test how far he can push the limits. What you are watching is not strength. It is corruption on full display.
You deserve a President who serves the country instead of himself. You deserve a leader who respects the Constitution, honors the sacrifices of those who came before, and protects the democracy we all rely on. You deserve truth, decency, and accountability at the highest level of office.
None of those values are being lived out today, and that should shake every American awake. Now is the time to stand tall, speak loud, and make sure history remembers that you chose democracy over dictatorship.
Mitch Jackson, Esq.
