She Failed Again

Today, Pam Bondi, the Attorney General of the United States, failed again in her constitutional duties.

In a highly watched House Judiciary Committee hearing, Bondi repeatedly refused to answer direct questions from members of Congress about the Department of Justice’s handling of critical issues, including the release and redaction of the Jeffrey Epstein investigation files, actions that left survivors without meaningful accountability and raised bipartisan concerns about transparency and justice.

More troubling still, during that hearing, Bondi deflected crucial oversight and attacked sitting members of Congress rather than addressing substantive legal concerns. Witnesses watching in the room, including survivors of Epstein’s abuse, tried to raise their hands and seek acknowledgment of their experiences, only to be ignored.

This is not mere political theater. This is a failure of leadership at the highest level of our justice system.

The Oath Bondi Took, and What It Means

When Pam Bondi was sworn in as the 87th Attorney General of the United States on February 5, 2025, she recited the same oath taken by all federal officers of the United States:

“I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.”

That oath places our Constitution and the rule of law first. It doesn’t say she’ll bear true faith and allegiance to the political interests of of one individual named Donald Trump. Not the preferences of allies. Not the instincts of loyalty to the powerful. The oath is to the people of this country, meaning you and me.

But Today’s Testimony Confirmed Deep Concerns

At that same hearing, Bondi repeatedly deflected when pressed on matters related to the Justice Department’s handling of the Epstein files and other high-profile decisions. Rather than clearly explain her actions, she pivoted to broad praise for President Trump and attacked Democratic lawmakers, including labeling questions as “theatrics” and personal insults.

Let’s address one other thing that should concern every American.

During her sworn testimony today, Bondi declared that Donald Trump is the greatest president in the history of the United States.

She made this statement under oath.

TDS is short for “Trump Derangement Syndrome.” It’s a phrase often thrown around to describe people who are supposedly so emotionally consumed by their opposition to Donald Trump that they lose objectivity, reason, and perspective.

Here’s the twist.

Maybe TDS isn’t that at all.

Maybe real “derangement” looks like unwavering devotion that ignores documented fraud findings, Trump’s name being given hundreds of thousands of times in the Epstein files, brushes past self dealing, shrugs at conflicts of interest, and pretends crypto ventures tied to political power are perfectly normal. Maybe it’s the inability to apply the same legal standards to one man that you would apply to anyone else in this country.

If that is the standard, then TDS is not outrage over misconduct.

It’s blind loyalty in the face of it.

That kind of political alignment isn’t inherently disqualifying, but it is problematic when it accompanies evasions under oath and a refusal to exercise independent judgment in her role as the nation’s chief law enforcement officer.

Why This Matters to Every American

As a lawyer I can comfortably report that the Attorney General doesn’t work for the White House. She works for you. Her oath is to the Constitution, not to any president, party, or political faction. When that oath is treated as secondary to partisan loyalty or personal affinity, the very foundations of our justice system are at risk.

We are at a point where Americans of all political persuasions should demand clarity, accountability, and adherence to the law from the leaders entrusted with enforcing it.

It’s Time for Accountability

Her refusal to answer legitimate oversight questions, her dismissive treatment of survivors, and her political bias are serious concerns for anyone who believes in the rule of law. What we saw in today’s hearing was not a defense of justice, but a performance confirming the Attorney General is not fulfilling her constitutional obligations.

She’s not upholding the oath she swore, without equivocation, and it is well past time for a thorough and bipartisan determination of how she should be removed from office.
