All I Want Is the America We Were Promised
The America we deserve is the one I know you believe in too
I am tired of leaders treating honesty like an option, tired of watching the people I love get left behind, and tired of seeing our future traded for short-term power and greed.
My thoughts below are about the kind of country we hand to our children and grandchildren, and whether they inherit freedom, fairness, and hope, or something far darker. Because if we want a better future, we have to start by demanding better values right now.
All I want is an America where the truth matters in every corner of public life, where leaders keep their word and act with integrity when no one is watching. An America where honesty is the standard for every conversation, every decision, and every promise made to the people.
All I want is an America where democracy is sacred, where every citizen’s vote is counted and respected without interference or suppression. An America where the voices of the people are louder than the money and power of corporations and political insiders.
All I want is an America where every person has access to affordable, quality health care, no matter where they live or what they earn. An America where health is treated as a basic right, not a privilege reserved for the wealthy or well-connected.
All I want is an America where communities are safe from gun violence, where families can walk in their neighborhoods without fear of tragedy. An America where public safety means protecting lives before profit, politics, or personal agendas.
All I want is an America where protecting the environment is a promise kept for our children, where clean air, water, and land are non-negotiable. An America where climate action is driven by responsibility to future generations, not by short-term gain.
All I want is an America where the economy serves the people who build it, where hard work is rewarded with stability and dignity. An America where no one’s paycheck is held hostage to political games or corporate greed.
All I want is an America where workers’ jobs are secure, where layoffs and instability are not the cost of someone else’s profit. An America where every job offers fair pay, respect, and a path to a better life.
All I want is an America where privacy is respected, where no one’s personal life is stripped away in the name of political control. An America where diversity, equity, and inclusion are seen as strengths that make us stronger, not targets to be dismantled.
All I want is an America where every person can live free from discrimination and denial of their identity. An America where no one is told they are less than or undeserving because of who they are or how they live.
All I want is an America where consumers are protected from fraud, unsafe products, and predatory practices. An America where the people come before corporations in every decision made by those in power.
All I want is an America where public trust in facts and data is unshakable, where truth is not manipulated for political convenience. An America where experts and professionals are respected for their work, not punished for telling the truth.
All I want is an America where our elected leaders remember they work for us, where they treat every question from the public and the press with respect. An America where answers come in the form of detailed facts and information, not insults or name calling meant to distract from the truth.
All I want is an America where science and research guide our policies, where experts are supported in protecting public health and safety. An America where those who serve the public in critical roles are valued and never silenced.
All I want is an America where we work with the world to build peace, where we honor our commitments to humanitarian aid and support those in crisis. An America where our word means something beyond our borders, and where our leadership inspires trust.
All I want is an America where we are free from endless wars and needless conflict, where diplomacy and peace take precedence over destruction. An America where national security means safety for our people without sacrificing our humanity.
All I want is an America where immigration policy reflects our values, where families are kept together and treated with dignity. An America where every person seeking a better life is given a fair and humane process.
All I want is an America where constitutional rights are protected every single day, where no one fears losing their freedoms to political power grabs. An America where freedom of speech, religion, and assembly are treated as sacred commitments.
All I want is an America where every child has access to a quality education, no matter their zip code or family income. An America where schools are places of opportunity and growth, not battlegrounds for political agendas.
All I want is an America where economic fairness means everyone has the same shot at success, no matter where they start. An America where tax laws and economic policies lift up working families instead of catering to the wealthy few.
All I want is an America where environmental protections are strengthened, where we refuse to gamble with the planet’s future. An America where clean energy and conservation are the foundations of how we live and build our future.
All I want is an America where kindness, empathy, and decency guide every decision made in public office. An America where the well-being of the people always comes before politics, profit, or personal gain.
You do not have to agree with me on everything to know this much is true. If we want this America, we must speak up, stand up, and show up until the people in power start working for us again.
