Please continue with your reporting on this plausible pandemic as it unfolds.

First thing I did was google incubation period for inhaled Yersinia pestis (Y. pestis). It’s worldwide spread can be predicted by patient 0 and her close contacts and their onset of symptoms and clinical course and then when quarantine was instituted.

I ponder if international transportation requirements should include temperature as a reason to preclude travel.

Here is the thing about pneumonic plage, its the same virus as bubonic plague - Yersinia pestis- the pneumonia is one outcome.

The three outcomes are:

Bubonic plague- first step historically - when your lymph nodes swell, followed by

pneumonic plague ( if left untreated it can reach the lungs) and then

Septicemic plague, when its attacking red blood cells.

However...

It doesn't need to go in that order. Inhale the virus ( say from a broken test tube) and you can start with the pneumonia symptoms.

Cut yourself ( say on a broken test tube) and you can start with septicemia.

The issue is , that of the 3 types, only pneumonia is a source of transmission from human to human. The virus normally travells through tick bites or mosquitoes 🦟

The strains we know about ( because it has been killing people for decades in places like india) are treatable with normal modern day antibiotics but ONLY if you are treated within 24-48 hours of having symptoms.

As she went to hospital so quickly after she dropped the vial, I am surprised that antibiotics didnt cure her.

Fleas, too. Bedbugs, probably. The blood meal...

Like the Hunta virus in the Southwest.

The pestis part of the name.

Just a note if anyone is interested. Dorsey Armstrong PhD on Great Courses has 2 series on the plague, finding Y Pestis as the source. One is prior to Covid, an updated series after Covid.
